2022 Toyota Corolla Review

2022 Toyota Corolla Review

Toyota is really on a roll as the newest Toyota Corolla is beautiful and more striking than ever. It looks like Toyota is finally moving away from dull and boring and is trying to be more adventurous and bolder with their new line of cars. The Toyota Corolla stands out for other reasons, too, because it looks fantastic on the outside, while it also has one of the plushest interiors. Of course, the higher up the model range you go the better it gets, but the overall design of the cabin even in basic models is much more interesting than their previous cars.

Features & Specs

The 2022 Toyota Corolla is now in its 12th generation. When a car model lives that long, you know it’s doing something right. For decades, the Corolla has been the compact car that’s known for its good value with high fuel economy and a reputation for its reliability. This latest Corolla still lives up to these core values, but this time it is flashier and more premium-feeling than its predecessors. The Corolla is also available as a hatchback or a hybrid sedan variant.

Entry-level Icon Corollas come with things like 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, heated front seats with lumbar support, Toyota’s Touch 2 with 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen, a reversing camera, DAB radio, 2.0-inch colour TFT multi-information display and dual-zone air conditioning. If you want low running costs but also want to avoid a diesel, the Toyota Corolla is a stylish, comfortable and good-to-drive hybrid. However, it can’t match alternatives for space.

The 2022 Toyota Corolla isn’t a particularly exciting car to drive, but it is a strong buy in the compact car class, thanks to its polished ride, high fuel economy, excellent safety features (like always), and reasonable pricing. If you’re looking to lessen the daily grind, the ever-capable and reliable Corolla is worth considering.

Who Is It For?

When it launched the all-new Corolla, Toyota aimed to reach a technology-obsessed, stylish-looking millennial audience and young people who are buying themselves a car for the first time.  Always connected via their smartphones, these first-time car buyers are looking for a simple car-shopping experience, and want to feel like they got something special.

Model Options

The 2022 Toyota Corolla comes in five trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE, and XSE. All are available with the Corolla sedan body style. The Corolla hatchback is limited to the SE and XSE trims.

Most drivers will prefer the SE and XSE trims because they are outfitted with a zippier 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and they offer the choice of a manual or automatic transmission. The L, LE, and XLE trims are automatic only, and they make do with a pokier 1.8-liter engine. Notably, all models are front-wheel drives.
